It is also possible that the street still exists, but has been re-named.

I have no knowledge of Queens street history, so take this with a large grain of salt.  I found a couple of resources indicating that streets were renamed in Queens.  See Steve Morse's description and his list of changes.  I also found the description from NY1 interesting.

I also found this map from 1949, which shows that 69th street north of Northern Avenue was also called 12th Street.  

If that isn't the street, I would guess it was in the same vicinity.
