My family arrived in the USA on May 9, 1890 in NYC, aboard the SS Russia. The part of the family I am questioning is BERNSTEIN, which consisted of Bluma, wife (line 203); David, son, 11 mths (line 205); and Hersch, son, 9 (line 204).
On the line for Hersch it states --- HOSPITAL. What would that be refering too and where could I get info on it????
My problem besides the above is the fact that after they arrived in May, that is the last mention of David. Did he die, where is he? He just vanished. Hersch is my grandfather. Therefore, I am wondering if the notation was written for the wrong child.
Regardless, what does that notation mean, and if he died, where is the body buried?
Open to all suggestions.
