My great grandfather was Yakov Mikhel Hacohen Kaptsits/Kaplan. (unknown-before 1912) His wife's maiden name was Rubnitz.
My grandfather was Mordecai/Max Yakov Hacohen Kaptsits/Kaplan. (1884-1972)
My father was Jacob/Jack Michael Kaplan. (1912-2000)
I suspect that the record below from JOWBR is my grandfather's brother, Chaim Aharon, who passed away before he could emigrate to America along with his two brothers and two sisters: Max, Sam, Lena, unknown.
My questions are as follows:
1. The record lists the surname Ramanever under the heading Other Surnames. Could other surnames be maiden names, hometowns, occupations, or something else? I have found other records that contain Ramanever, and many different spellings, but where does it belong, or does it belong, to my family?
2. What is the meaning of the word mh'rrĀ in the burial record?
