An article in the October 11, 2002, Gazeta Stołeczna supplement to the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza announced that a derelict building in the Nowa Praga neighborhood of Warsaw is soon going to be restored to its original splendor based on pre-war photos that documented the building’s appearance.
The building in question – ul. Środkowa 16 – was originally built in about 1870 for Aron SPIWAK (ŚPIEWAK). At the time, Praga on the Vistula River’s right bank was a separate city from Warsaw which lies on the left bank. In 1891, Praga was absorbed into the Warsaw municipality.
I offer this information on the off-chance that someone has an interest in Aron SPIWAK.
