On October 23rd at 1:00 pm Eastern Time, our society will be cohosting a very special event to celebrate the life and incredible Holocaust rescue efforts of Swiss Diplomat Carl Lutz.  His dangerous work saved more than 60,000 Hungarian Jews!  Please see the attached flyer below for a full description of our event and Carl Lutz’ bio.

We will all view the film, Dangerous Diplomacy, immediately followed by a Q and A with a panel of film makers who will join us in person at Temple Rodeph Shalom in Phildelphia.

Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Carl Lutz
and Diplomatic Rescue in the Holocaust

The Mid-Atlantic - Eurasia Business Council and Jewish Genealogical and Archival Society of Greater Philadelphia are delighted to invite you to join us in our continuing series of events to recognize and celebrate the life and accomplishments of an often forgotten hero - Carl Lutz. His humanitarian action is considered the greatest civil rescue operation of Jews during the Holocaust. This year will mark the 80th anniversary of Carl Lutz’s arrival in Hungary, followed by the great feat to save over 60,000 lives from the Holocaust during his tenure as Vice-Consul at the Swiss Embassy in Budapest.
 
We will host hybrid event on October 23, 2022, in-person events on January 27-31, 2023and hybrid event on March 30, 2023 honoring Carl Lutz and Rescue in the Holocaust. 
 
On October 23, 2022, Mid-Atlantic - Eurasia Business Council and Jewish Genealogical and Archival Society of Greater Philadelphia will co-host hybrid event at Congregation Rodeph Shalom in Philadelphia showcasing the life and legacy of Carl Lutz and Diplomatic Rescue in the Holocaust. We will also present film "Dangerous Diplomacy" and hold a discussion with the Co-Producers and Co-Directors of this documentary.

On January 27-31, 2023 & March 30, 2023 we will showcase, through a variety of presentations, the life and legacy of Carl Lutz and Diplomatic Rescue in the Holocaust, at indoor and outdoor locations in Philadelphia, including Mayor’s Reception Room in Philadelphia City Hall, and Philadelphia Holocaust Memorial Plaza. We are planning to host international experts and guests including Agnes Hirschi, Carl Lutz’ stepdaughter and President of Carl Lutz Society. We plan on revisiting several of the films and speaker presentations at various universities and colleges in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
