My grandmother’s, Chaje Sara Eigen, birth in 1968 is registered in the metrical books of Brzezany Galicia. There, in the column- Patrini, Nomen- is written Leib Redlich. As far as I know Patrini means Godfather. However, a godfather according to Jewish tradition has a task only at male birth and not at female birth. So, what is the duty or task of the godfather in the present case.
