This sounds like it could be Mezhyrich. My paternal grandmother's family, the Mindess family, was from Mezhyrich. There is also a Yizkor book of sorts available, although I understand that the names are not alphabetized.  Israel Zinman, who lives in Israel, was from Mezhyrich. He used to organize annual trips to the region. He also organized the community to put up a Matzevah to those who were killed in the war.
