We have a Herman Bercovitz in our tree. He lived came to the US and settled
in St. Paul in 1900 and then moved to Los Angeles. I believe he was from
Romania and his name was Bercovici.
More accurately he may have come >from Bukovina which was included at one
time in Galicia and now is part of Romania and Ukraine.
He married my great aunt Tina Brucker, also >from Romania.
I wonder if Bercovitz and Berkovitz derive >from the same name, Bercovici or
are completely different names.
