Thanks to long-time H-SIG supporter Bobbie Furst, JewishGen has pictures
fronm several additional Jewish cemeteries in areas of northeastern
Hungary that are now in Slovakia. Once translated, these records will
be added to the Jewish On-Line World Burial Records (JOWBR) database.
The transcribed records will also be searchable using the rapidly
growing All-Hungary Database.
Tomer Brunner has already transcribed inscriptions on 147 headstones in
the badly overgrown and abandoned Jewish cemetery outside of
Sobrance (SLOV-01311). I am reformatting Tomer's information into a
database that we may upload to the H-SIG website as soon as it is complete.
We need additional volunteers who can read Hebrew and have good
enough vision to decipher the following additional records:
SLOV-01312 Hriadky 13 images
SLOV-01313 Jablon Cemetery 22 images
SLOV-01314 Ubla Cemetery 2 images
SLOV-01315 Oborin Cemetery 12 images
SLOV-01316 Stara Lubovna 57 images
SLOV-01317 Stropkov New Cemetery 451 images
SLOV-01318 Vysna Rybnica 39 images
SLOV-01319 Humenne 357 images
If you can help, please contact Nolan Altman

need to have a JewishGen Volunteer Agreement on file.
