Birth certificate Mystery #hungary
neumanp@...
My grandmother was born in Debrecen in 1874. Her birth certificate has
a line: A baba neve Perlmann Lina I believe that translates to "the baby's name" but her name was Regina Grossmann which is documented near the top of the birth certificate on the line that translates to "the newborn's name". I thought for a long time this might have been her (Regina's) grandmother's maiden name but it is not. My other thought is Perlmann Lina was the midwife. Does anybody have an explanation? Thanks Paul Neuman Oakland, NJ Moderator: Ba'ba (accent on the first "a") means midwife.
