There is a book about Jews in WW1, it was on auction in 2002 (>from Google):

2002. márc. 24. – Magyar Hadviselt Zsidók Aranyalbuma. (Memory album of the Jewish soldiers and awarded heroes of World War 1, in ornamented cover, ..

Betreff: [h-sig] MARKUS Dezso, Hadnagy
Thanks to all those who confirmed that "hdgy" is an abbreviation for
"hadnagy" or Second Lieutenant. My great-aunt's husband Dezso was
probably very proud of his military service.

I recall finding another relative who was a "hadnagy" on a list of
Hungarian Jews who were officers during WWI. Does anyone remember
seeing such a list or where I might find such information? All I know
about MARKUS Dezso was that he married my great-aunt Rosza MOSKOVITS
about 1912 and that they lived in Sepsiszentgyorgy, where their
daughter Piroska was born in 1913. In 1943, Dezso was living in
Debrecen with his daughter and her family. I assume that Rosza died
before the war, because she's not listed on the Debrecen memorial or in
the deportation lists, but haven't yet found any record of her death.
