There seems to be some sort of misunderstanding if not
disinformation. It is possible to do research in the Grodno
Archives. We had a researcher in there last week. He complained
that it was over-crowded. It was mid-term and the place was full
of students doing research.
Foreigners have trouble getting into Belarussian Archives. The
authorities prefer to do the research themselves and charge for
it. That happens in other archives in other countries as well.
Qualified researchers and approved organizations have no trouble
with access. I don't know where all this is coming from.
But I expect I'll find out with the incoming mail.
