Jewish Communities of the CIS, Belarus #belarus

Please take a look at this site:

Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS, BELARUS - Representing the
Jewish
Communities in Belarus, a directory and information on over 270 Jewish
Communities
in the former Soviet Union. <http://www.fjc.ru/belarusfr.htm>. The
website has the
the address (and a contact person) for the different Jewish Communities
in Belarus
as well as other countries in the FSU. If you click on the Rabinical
Alliance
button, you can get the names of the different rabbis and the where they
are
located. I found the name of the a Rabbi in St. Petersburg with one of
my less
common surnames: TZIVIN (TSIVIN). This name is found in both Minsk and
Mogilev.
There was an e-mail address for the Rabinical Alliance and I sent a
message to
them asking Rabbi TZIVIN to contact me. I'll let you know if this long
shot pans
out.
