Herl'any, Slovakia #hungary
Matthew Kessler
Hello,
Does anyone know of the town of Herl'any in Slovakia? I am trying to research my ggg-grandmother Betti Klein SCHON who was born there in 1851 and died in Kosice, about 20 miles west, in 1917. I cannot find any record of Herl'any in JewishGen. Apparently, it is well-known for a cold water geyser: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Her%C4%BEany Thanks, Matthew KESSLER New York, NY - Researching: SCHOEN/SCHON: Kosice, Slovakia KLEIMAN: Kamyanets Podilskyy, Ukraine; Kamyanyets, Belarus; St. Petersburg, Russia ROSNER: Khmelnyk (Komlos), Ukraine KESSLER, GOLDBLATT, GOLDBERGER: Berehove, Ukraine; Hat, Ukraine SCHWARTZ, HERSHKOWITZ: Kyblyary, Ukraine; Uzhhorod, Ukraine WOLSON, GIBBS, ABRAMS: Balninkai, Lithuania; Ukmerge, Lithuania Moderator: Herlany, Slovakia was previously Herlein in the Fuzer district of Abauj-Torna county. The Jewish community was too small for Herlein to be included in JewishGen's Communities Database (only 10 Jewish residents in 1877) but you can find this place in the JewishGen Gazetteer at http://data.jewishgen.org/wconnect/wc.dll?jg~jgsys~gazetteer
