Peter Absolon, who been doing a marvelous job obtaining records >from Kosice and surrounding communities in Abauj-Torna County, has now found a collection of 1857 census records in the Kosice branch of the Slovak State Archives. Peter estimates that it will take about 88 trips to the archives to photograph all the records. In addition to his expenses, we would have to cover fees that the archives charge. The total cost would be about $5000. Before we can launch this effort I need to determine if there is sufficient interest among researchers to make donations to support this project and to help transcribe the records.
