Albert LEVY and Gertrude HENNIG / Paddington 1901 #unitedkingdom

Levy, Justin <Justin.Levy@...>

Hello Folks,

Albert LEVY (b. 9 July 1864 in Bad Segeberg, Germany) was the youngest son
of Moses David Levy and Hannchen Heckscher. He emigrated to London in the
mid to late 1880s and was recorded in the 1891 census as a cigar merchant
boarding at 66 Sutherland Avenue.

In March 1900 in Paddington, he married Gertrude HENNIG (b. 1871/72 in
Berlin, Germany), the daughter of the diamond broker Isidore HENNIG and his
wife, Ernestine.

A year later, the married couple were recorded with their month-old
daughter, Hilda LEVY (as well as two servants and a nurse) at 12 Randolph
Crescent, Paddington, which is round the corner >from Sutherland Avenue where
Gertrude's parents were residing at no. 142.

Most excitingly, Albert was the first cousin of my great-grandfather, Henry
LEVY, who returned to London in 1901 after nearly 20 years in South Africa
to take up residence at 152 Sutherland Avenue. Henry was the younger brother
of Paul LEVY mentioned in my earlier posting.

Having traced my German ancestry back to the early 17th century, I would
very much like to make some progress forward along the English lines.

Any help would be most gratefully received.
