JCR-UK Update #unitedkingdom
John Berman <john_berman@...>
In 2001 JCR-UK was an idea, in 2005 its a tangible reference site
that can be used both by the genealogist or simply by those curious about Jewish Life in the UK. The sites success is attributable to two factors The donors, who are all listed at: http://www.jewishgen.org/jcr-uk/acknowledgements.htm There are far too many to list them all in this posting. The volunteers who work behind the scenes transcribing and formatting and getting the data online. In particular I should like to publicly thank Louise Messik, who moderates this list and spends hours getting information online, she has worked relentlessly for the past few years and will continue to do so (I sincerely hope). More recently David Shulman has joined us and in his short time with us he made tremendous progress, for instance see http://www.jewishgen.org/jcr-uk/pre-1290.htm Check out http://www.jewishgen.org/jcr-uk/whatsnew.htm So JCR-UK goes >from strength to strength and will continue to do so, its a project that will never be completed as there will always be something to add. Please see http://www.jewishgen.org/jcr-uk/providing.htm for information on how you can help, nothing relevant will be rejected and if you have something related to a community thats not listed thats not an issue, we will add the community. You dont have to donate thousands of records (though that would be nice) a picture of a synagogue, community article etc, all these things help us to permanently record Jewish Communities that do or have existed in the UK. So once again thanks to all who make the site what it is. Regards John Berman
