Ship Alley #unitedkingdom

Derek & Rosemary Wenzerul <dandr@...>

The Alan Godfrey Old Ordnance Survey Map No, 63 dated 1873 (co-ordinates
416.043) shows Ship Alley as being off Wellclose Square leading into St.
George Street. It shows St. Paul's School situated in the centre of the
Square. The next road down >from Ship Alley is Neptune Street. Opposite Ship
Alley looks like Breezers Hill.

from the Nicholsons London Street Atlas dated 1995, Neptune Street looks as
if it has been re-named Well Street, Breezers Hill, is shown as Breez Hill,
although it may have been shortened due to space on the map.

Strangely enough on the 1873 map, there was another Well Street, but this
doesn't look as if it is the same one. It looks as if the original Well
Street has now been re-named Ensign Street. St. George Street has been
re-named The Highway.

If you would like a copy of the old map, please let me know and I can scan
it to you.

Hope this is of help.
