The United Kingdom National Inventory of War Memorials website has been
brought to my attention and it has an excellent searchable list, and links
to other useful sites. It consists of an on-line searchable database of
any physical object in the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands that has
designated as a war memorial >from any conflict and covers a broad
period >from Roman occupation to the Battle of Hastings, and the 1st and
World Wars through to current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. It
a very easy website to negotiate: as a test, I just typed Cohen into the
name box, and Synagogue into the place box and two results came up - one
North Manchester, and one in Bournemouth.

The URL for this website is
I have typed in "Jewish" and "synagogue" which give 40+ and 60+ results
