Dear Readers -
As many readers will know, two members of the (UK) Jewish
Lads Brigade were instrumental in organising activities at
Kitchener Camp >from 1939 onwards. They were Jonas May and
his brother Phineas. I believe that they later became
officers in the Pioneer Corps. I have read much about their
work and about the Camp generally, including a copy of the
Journal that they produced in the camp.
But mention is frequently made in the material I've read of
a third member of the staff: M Banks. I can't find out
anything about him - not even his given name.
I suppose there might be documents in archives or
repositories such as the Wiener Library in London or the UK
National Archives, but as much as I can read online makes no
mention. I'd love to know a bit about him. Can anyone
assist?
My connection is that my late parents spent time in
Kitchener Camp.
