JEWISH GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY OF GREAT BRITAIN Manchester Regional Group

ON SUNDAY, 28TH JUNE 2015 WE WILL BE DOING WHAT WE DO BEST A GENEALOGY
WORKSHOP AIMED AT BEGINNERS AND MODERATELY EXPERIENCED RESEARCHERS
Venue: Meade Hill Shul, M8 6LS
Time: 2.00pm start to about 5.00pm
Send an e-mail to manchester.genealogy@gmail.com for directions to venue
and for our newsletter with details of what we have been doing during the
past 12 months.

THIS IS OUR ONCE A YEAR OPEN DAY WHEN WE SHOW THE PUBLIC JUST WHAT WE DO
AND HOW WE DO IT. THERE IS NO CHARGE SO COME ALONG AND BRING THE FAMILY -
WHY NOT GET YOUR KIDS INVOLVED?

There will be themed tables with resource material and books >from our
superlibrary that are relevant to the topic for Local and UK Archives,
Eastern Europe (Poland, Latvia, Lithuania etc), JewishGen and JCR-UK etc
At each table will be someone to help you with your inquiries and research

We will have at least three laptops connected to the internet with one
displaying websites on a large screen.

We will have free copies of the Society's award-winning Shemot
magazine and free refreshments.

Some of our own research work will be out on display so that you can see
just how much can be achieved.

We would like to point out that we do not do your research for you, we
show you how to do your own research by guiding you to appropriate reading
matter and websites. We also have a selection of information leaflets
from various sources such as the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and free
packets of poppy seeds which they gave us for people to plant in their
gardens to make a memorial corner - a very touching and welcome gesture.

We carry stocks of the JGSGB's own publications, books in the Jewish
Ancestors? series on Researching Latvia and Estonia, Researching
Lithuania, Researching Poland, UK Archives and Records, Translating Hebrew
Documents and Headstones and others.

We have Geoffrey Weisgard's book on Krakow and
Nigel Grizzard's book on the Jews of Bradford.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WILL BE ATTENDING AS IT HELPS US WITH OUR
PLANNING
