We received the German birth certificates of a few children of one family
which all have added information at the bottom about their deaths. The
details include exact date, the suburb in Sydney, and the Australian death
certificate reference number. It looks like there could be some sort of
agreement between Australia Germany to advise the their registry on the
death of any of its previous citizens.

One example -
born in Zulpich in 1901,
migrated to Australia in 1937,
naturalized in 1944,
died in 1979 - shows suburb, country, date, and ref no.

Has anyone else come across this? It could be related to a pension
agreement between Australia and Germany. And what paper trail did they
follow to match one reference against another, 80 years later and countries
apart.
