Searching: SCHONENBERG #general

Lida Baker <lbaker@...>

Hello,
I have made little progress in my search for Gunter SCHONENBERG, so once
again I am turning to this list for help. Two sources inform me that
SCHONENBERG left Holland for Los Angeles on June 12, 1947: the Centraal
Bureau voor Genealogie and the Register in Amsterdam. Since I live in Los
Angeles and have been unable to locate SCHONENBERG here, I wrote to the
Gemeentearchief in Rotterdam asking if he was a passenger on the Holland
Amerika Lijn. They have no record of him in their index for the year 1947.
So perhaps someone can tell me:

-- What other shipping companies can I check to see if he was a passenger
with them?
-- How can I find out if SCHONENBERG actually landed on the shores of this
country?

Incidentally, SCHONENBERG was the son of Julius SCHONENBERG and Selma
ROSENTHAL >from Gelsenkirchen, Germany. He was born on Sept. 7, 1920. He
came to Holland >from Germany in 1938 and lived in Amsterdam. He married my
mother, Branca BLITS, in 1943.

Thanks for your help.
