Re WOW and Other Research Avenues #general

As another retired lady who's been doing genealogy only since June
and definitely counts herself as one of the less knowledgeable, I
appreciated Ruth Grant's post to the Digest counseling patience with
others and pointing out that not all JewishGenners are near good
resource centers or have the knowledge yet to pursue avenues that may
be open to them.

I was sure I wouldn't find an LDS Family History Center in Carlsbad,
California. And I didn't until it occurred to me to look in the phone
book under "Church of the Latter Day Saints" instead of under "Morman,"
"LDS," or "Family History Center." Then I found one of these centers
not only in my town but in all sorts of neighboring towns as well. In
fact, they seemed to be all over the place! It occurs to me that maybe
some beginning researchers aren't looking in the right place in their
local phone books, so maybe this account of my own search will help
others. After all, your fingers can do the walking only if your brain
can tell them where to walk!
