Charles Nydorf's email on this subject, reminded me of a book, >from
which one can glean a lot about life in a Bohemian village, with a
substantial Jewish population.

The village is Amschelberg (now Kosova Hora in Czech Republic) and the
book is:
Amschelberger Jugenderinnerungen (1855-1875-1880) by Dr. Markus Lowy (1909)

Pages relating to HUEBSCHER, FUERTH, ADLER, REICHENSTEIN, FRANK & KOHN
can be seen on my website; I have a copy of the whole book if anyone is
interested.

The book contains a humerous account of each family, often giving
details of trade and standing within the village & Jewish Community.
Requires ability to read German!!
