The term "Reverend" in 1909 Cook County and elsewhere was often used for
any religious professional. Thus, "Reverend" as a Jewish designation might
refer to a rabbi, an unordained rabbi (not unusual among immigrant
congregations), a cantor, a shochet, a mohel, etc.
