I was looking at some results >from the All Lithuania Database (ALD) -

any new Cartoo/Kartun relatives, I did find a link to the Sachs family.
Cyril (Shlomo) Cartoon son of Yitzchok Binyamin Cartoon was mourned by
the Sachs family. Now I have known about Cyril and his father and many
other Cartoon relatives >from South Africa (Krugersdorp, Cape Town,
Johannesburg, etc.). But I do not have any Sachs family links in my
tree. This is likely due to the limited information I have on Yitzchok
Binyamin Cartoon's family. Does anyone have infromation on this link or
any other Cartoon/Kartun families >from South Africa?

The Kartun/Cartoon family originated >from Lithuania (Siauliai,

Re: posting names & JGFF & FTJP #general

sallybr <sallybr@...>

I have several hundred surnames in my family tree, including cousins
husbands etc. I am not about to include all the names in the Family Finder
as I am not directly related to some and not interested in entering so many
names one by one.

For the same reason, it is unreasonable to post the list here.

However, I put them all in FTJP through one gedcom file. Now if only I
could correct the FTJP entry, I would be set. I entered information with
umlauts and tildes and they come out funny.

So there are reasons to check all three places for information.

Help with relative unwilling to share #general

Jacqueline M Lerner-Aderman <j.lerner_aderman@...>

Met with a close relative today who knew my father. In the past, she has
eluded to knowing more than what she lets on. Today, she stated that she
will tell me what the information is upon her death.

I am an adult. Not sure what it is she is unwilling to share. I do
believe my father was a good man, as supported by those who knew him.

Any suggestions?

thanks group

Louis A Fine <loufine@...>

Hi All:

Going through the books my mother left me I came across one entitled
Musicans of a Wandering Race, copywright 1927.

There are lists of names of Jewish composers, violinists, conductors,
singer.

Names like: Composers: George Bizet, Paul Dukas, Gustav Mahler, Darius
Mihaud, Jacques Offenbach, Maurice Ravel, Camille Saint-Saens, Oscar
Strauss (Choclate Soldier-no relation to the Waltz composers).

Conductors: Otto Klemperer, Serge Koussevitzky, Pierre Monteux, Bruno
Walter.

Singers: Alma Gluck, Madam Ernestine Schumann-Heink

These names came as a complete suprise to me.
There are others of course and those folks interested in the list, write
to me privately.
