Hello
I wonder if any one heard of the Wellington Building in the East
End of London. On my brother birth certificate it says he was born at that
address. Was it a maternity hospital or something of that sort. He lived
at 42 Commercial Road at that time. He was born in about 1910.
Thank you for any help you can give.

since they have a good set of street atlases and detailed maps.
can I suggest that the email address is added to a suitable Jewgen file

I recently had some very old family letters translated >from Yiddish and
Russian script. They date >from 1896 to 1899, and are postmarked >from
Alexandrovsk, Yekaterinoslav Oblast. I've discovered the current name is
Zaparozhe, in Dnepropetrovsk in the Ukraine. The letters state a number of
family surnames: MICHAELSON, SHAIR and FILENBOGEN. Some other names may or
may not be surnames, but I will add them as well: VILISHEVSKY and
SHTAVITSKIA. Some of the MICHAELSON and SHAIR families immigrated to the
U.S. in the 1880-90s.
I would like to hear >from anyone who knows of these families and/or the town
they came from.

Ehrenwert - surname or description? #general

Estelle Wolfers <Ewolfers@...>

Dear All,

I have recently been given details of a marriage in Staedtel, near Breslau,
in 1851, of Zacharias Mendelsohn to Cecilie Tockuss. The bridegroom's
parents are described as Rabbi Mendel Zacharias (who performed the marriage
ceremony) and Gittel Ehrenwert. Initially I took Ehrenwert to be a surname,
but it seems to be an adjective meaning honest or honourable. Does anyone
know if it *would* have been a surname, or would it have been an honorific
title, because she was the Rabbi's wife?

Best wishes, Estelle Wolfers

I just wanted to share a happy story. This weekend I will be attending the
Bat Mitzvah of a cousin "found" through Jewish Gen. Her mom and Grandmother
and I connected through the JGFF last spring. We visited during Pesach and
our daughters became friends and occasional pen pals. Now we share mitzvahs!
This is part of what this group is all about!

Searching for any Information on KINNEAR, Probably in Vancouver, B.C., Canada #general

Ricki L. Zunk <rickiz@...>

Just found some new information:

Two years ago, I found some of my father's paternal family line living
in Brussels, Belgium. The "family elder" just recently went through
some old papers he rediscovered, and located a name and address in
Vancouver. I have little information about this person, but I know
that I do need more information >from anyone in the Vancouver who might
have known them. I have no date on the address list where I found
their names and address, so I don't know how old that information is.

Elfriede "Elfi" KINNEAR
(house # deleated)Hasel Street
South Burnaby B.C.
Vancouver, Canada

This is exactly how it's written on the page, and that's all that was
found in the address book.

I DO have a little more information about Elfi:

Elfriede RENDELSTEIN m. ? KINNEAR
b: Mar. 15, 1920, Vienna, b: ? , Canada
Austria
m: 1945, probably in Vienna, but not sure

Elfi's parents were Markus & Gisella Ochs RENDELSTEIN. Markus and
Gisella were both >from Tarnopol, Galicia (now Ukraine). Markus was a
physicist and chemical engineer. Besides Elfi, they had one other
child - a daughter named Roma. Roma was handicapped (don't know what
kind of disability it was). Markus, Gisella, and Roma were last known
to be alive in 1938 when they were "deported" to a concentration camp
- never to be heard >from again.

We know that Mr. Kinnear was in the Canadian Armed Forces in WWII, as
we have a photo of him in uniform. We know he was Canadian, but
that's all we know of him.

Does anyone recognize these names, address, or anything about these
people? If so, please contact me privately rickiz@mindspring.com,
as there is no need to burden the entire list with this information.
I can use all of the assistance anyone can and will render.

Thank you, in advance,

Many, many thanks to all of you who helped me in my search. With the websites
furnished to me, I will be able to continue my search for my dad's family.
Hopefully, I will be able to find out if anyone got out and has descendants
anywhere. If not, I will know they perished in the Holocaust, but maybe I
will be able to find their names.

I have now received the document of dad's Intent to Naturalize, which gave
his birthdate and the date he came to America and on what ship. Interesting
note: Although he served in the U.S. Army in WW1, he did not obtain
citizenship until after he married my mom in 1920.

Thank you again to everyone. I tried to answer each person privately and hope
I accomplished that. However, I wanted to be sure.

Thank you.
