Virus alert against Jewish organizations and Jews in general #yizkorbooks

jan meisels allen <janmallen@...>

I received this today and don't know if it is true or not- it is NOT listed
on the internet site for virus hoaxes so it might be true.

This morning I picked up a very dangerous virus-OBVIOUSLY TARGETED AT US
JEWS AND JEWISH ORGANIZATIONS-it came in on an e-mail message that
started with the word erez.

The virus is PrettyParkEze---be very careful--it infected more than just
the file it came in on--I did not think much of it because one of the
kibbutzim uses eretz in their e-mail address

participation of Chalres Aaron Konisky in vandeville dance hall #yiddish

Jordan Konisky <konisky@...>

Dear Research Group Members

Family tradition has it that my grandfather Charles Aaron Konisky was
engaged in Yiddish vaudeville in New York in about 1902. I am seeking
any documentation of his participation as a vaudeville entertainer (song
and dance). How do I get statred?

He is not listed in the Yiddish theater lexicon, that 6-volume work on
Yiddish actors.

emigration from Kovno #lithuania

Theo Travis / Madelyn Cohen <travis@...>

My grandfather emigrated >from Marijampole, which wasn't all that far from
Kovno, to New York City via Bremen in 1913. The route was run by the North
German Lloyd lines and I did find an arrival record for him. I understand
that records for the late 1800s are more patchy.

Unfortunately, most likely the result of this will be that I will
be reluctant in the future to share anything. I am sure many of you
out there have had the same experience.
I have seen many complaints >from people who send letters to relatives
and never get a reply. This is pretty common & I have had my share of
this too. But since we are using this forum to help one another, it
would be very sad if because of a lack of common courtesy, we saw fit
to hold back information that might be of help to someone.
In the spirit of Jewishgen, let's have a little "Thank you & please"!

ELCHANAN or ELKINS surname #general

Steve Elkins <steveelkins@...>

Hello-

My name is Steve Elkins. I would like to know if anyone has any
information they would be willing to share on the surnames of "Elchanan"
or "Elkins." I have been told by my uncle that my family contains the
direct descendants of a sixteenth century Dutch rabbi, Isaac Elchanan,
whose sons immigrated to England and became Christian and would eventually
go to the United States. Any information would be helpful, as I would
like to learn more about the rabbi's life and what compelled his three
sons to go to England.

Thank you,
Steve Elkins
