EPSTEIN/BLASCHKE in Buenos Aires #latinamerica

James Bennett <bennett@...>

I am searching for the children or grandchildren
of CATALINA BLASCHKE DE EPSTEIN, who
was born in Germany and came to Buenos Aires
in about 1940 and possibly passed away there in
the last ten years.
I am related to her through the Blaschke family.

I assume that she has children named Epstein
in Argentina.

possible errors on tombstones #belarus

AVILEV@...

I have been doing research into my father's side of the family and my
mother's side. Recently, I discovered that my paternal grandparents
are the only relatives with our spelling of the name buried in the
Shklov Benevolent Society section of the Mt. Zion Cemetery in New York.
On the tombstones for every other relative buried there, the name is
spelled slightly differently. An official at the cemetery advised me
that the name could have been changed at some point as a clerical error
and carried over >from there on in.

The bigger errors, however, are what my cousin and I have been uncovering
on my mother's side of the family. My cousin checked for the graves of
our maternal grandparents. At first, whomever she spoke with at Beth
David Cemetery gave her the site of a different person with the same name
as our grandmother buried in a separate plot >from our grandfather. My
husband and I then went with this cousin to the correct plot, where both
of our grandparents are buried.

Now, cousin says that she found the graves of our maternal great-
grandparents, but that they, too are buried separately.

Furthermore, the great-grandfather is buried with another woman, and some
dates don't seem to be what we knew. I wonder if we are having this
confusion because there is more than one person of similar age with a
similar date of birth or death buried in the same cemetery.

Also, I plan on going to check it out myself, but I am not sure if I can
clarify matters once I do.

HOOS--Kansas City #general

Carol Fairman

My great grandfather Yitzhak CHURGIN had a brother Asher HOOS who moved to
Kansas City. I don't know if it was Missouri or Kansas. He had two sons
William and Alex. I do not know when they moved to Kansas City.

I don't know if I am right but I am thinking it might have been after
August 1923. This is when the aunt of my mother Yache(or Edna in English)
CHURGIN witnessed the murder of Louis SCHWARTZMAN by The Kid Dropper Gang.
The girl in the getaway car I found out >from the New York City Police Dept
was a Rose CHURGIN. I have never heard of Rose CHURGIN but it is too
coincedental not to be a relative. I am thinking that the family may have
moved to Kansas City after this incident.

Through doing the research on what happened to my great aunt, I found the
address at which they were living in 1923. By knowing the address that they
lived at, I found when my great grandfather was natualized. Naturalization
spelled his name Itsock Churkin.

A little village in the Ukraine called "Voromzowska" #general

robert.gleek <robert.gleek@...>

Dear Sir/Madam,
Here's the challenge of a lifetime!
I am trying to locate the whereabouts of a little village called
Voromzowska (nearest big city: Odessa)
The information I have been given doesn't add up though.
I have been through books, Russian website and even maps (!)
- without any luck.
It has been described by the only person left who can remember as:
"We lived by a mill in a little village on the Dniester River which was
called something like 'Voromzowska'.
It was located where an imaginary line crosses the river between
Jerson-on-the-Don (Herson) and Nikolaiev."
If you have ever heard of it, please help!

BTW I recently sent out a message concerning a male Hebrew name containing
the letters ch-n-h. >from the many responses I received (thanks to all who
responded!) it seems that the most likely name was Hanoch (Chonoh) or
Chone...

Hello Genners,
I am looking for the descendants of Isheah HOFFMAN (original surname

1870's. He was the son of Shlomo and Asne Rachman. He was married twice

had children Beatrice, Miltie and Bernie >from second marriage (I
believe). Isheah lived in Brooklyn but died at @94 years of age in Santa
Monica, California. Isheah had a sister Fanny PILOVE (nee Hoffman), a
brother Barney form Chelsea, Mass, Shimon >from Brooklyn, and Sender

of HOFFMAN), Argentina, Venezuela, and possibly South Africa. If any of
these names sound familiar to you, please contact me privately.
Thank you.
