BOJARSKY and MEIER PAWE, from Scucyn, Belarus #belarus

SBSeales

Hello all,
Does anyone recognize the name PAWE, or know of another spelling for it? It is written very clearly on a passenger manifest in the Ellis Is Database. This person was traveling with Elke (Alice) BOJARSKY, my
grandmother's twin sister, and was supposedly a cousin. Alice was >from Mosty,in Grodno.
Although they are not listed on consecutive lines, they were both going to Elke's brother Chaim BOIARSKY, at 78 Sumner Ave in East Boston in 1903.

Thanks in advance,

Many thanks to all of you who answered my question about Libau. The question
arose >from an EIDB printable manifest that stated that Libau was now Poznzn,

True search-by-town capability in Steve Morse's one-step website #lodz #poland

Seflaum@...

Dear Fellow Researchers,

This important message was posted by Diane Jacobs on the LitvakSIG mailing
list. It concerns customized searches for Jewish passenger arrivals in Ellis
Island. I tried searching for all Jewish passengers >from Piotrkow and it
really works!

Regards,
Shirley Rotbein Flaum

Forwarded message:
For those of you who haven't already discovered it, Steve Morse's
one-step program can now be used to do a true search-by-town.

Previously Steve implemented a pseudo search-by-town facility under the
"Advanced Features" section of his one-step search form. But that
required you to use the Netscape browser and not Internet Explorer. And
it downloaded all matches regardless of town and then locally filtered
out the ones that are not >from the town of interest. These limitations
made its usefulness questionable.

Steve's new search-by-town implementation, which he did together with
Michael Tobias, doesn't have any of these limitations. But it has a new
one -- it can find only Jewish passengers (those having ethnicity of
Hebrew).

To use the new search facility, check off the ethnicity box for Hebrew
on Steve's one-step search form. As soon as you do that, a pop-up box
will appear that directs you to a special one-step search form that is
for Jewish passengers only. After that, whenever you return to Steve's
original one-step search form, you will see a button on top that takes
you directly to the Jewish one-step search form.

I'm sure that many of you will find this new search-by-town facilty very
useful. With it you can even obtain a list of all the people that came
>from a particular town.

As a reminder, Steve's one-step search form can be found at either of
the following addresses:

http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/ellis/ellis.html

http://sites.netscape.net/stephenpmorse/ellis/ellis.html

As Steve Morse has asked me to pass this on to the Jewish genealogy
world, please do not respond to me directly with any questions. You
can find his e-mail address on the one-step website.

Thank you and good luck.

HECKSCHER Family #general

Derek & Rosemary Wenzerul <dandr@...>

Please can anyone help?

I am trying to trace any descendants of the following family who
appeared on the 1881 census living at 43 Darnley Road, Southside,
Hackney, London, N.:

Siegmund Heckscher aged 40 born Germany (Importer of Cigars)
Johanna Heckscher aged 38 born Germany
Children:
Siegsfrid aged 14 born Germany
Florette aged 13 born Germany (married Rev. Nehemiah Goldston)
Rosalie also aged 13 born Germany ? twins
Leo aged 11 born Hamburg, Germany
Charles aged 9 born Hamburg, Germany
Max aged 6 born Hamburg, Germany
Ida aged 4 born Hamburg, Germany
James aged 2 born Eidelotsdt, Germany

The only one of this family who is connected to me by marriage is Florette
and if anyone is tracing this family, I would be delighted to hear from
them.

They probably came to the UK somewhere between 1879-1881 as the last child
on the list was aged 2 years of age at the time the 1881 census was taken.

I do hope someone can help - please reply privately.

If you need information on someone who received a
benefit, you will need the person's name, date of
birth, and date of death -- month and year will do.
It costs $27.00 with a Soc. Sec.#, $29.00 without a
Soc. Sec.#. It will give you a copy of the original
application. This may have parent's names, country of
origin. Send request, with payment, to
