If anyone knows of her (or if you are reading this Sandra!), I'd
appreciate contact information. Thanks to the recent post of the link to
the Yad Vashem database, I found a Page of Testimony about a relative who
was shot on the way to Treblinka. The page was submitted by Sandra
Lieberman, but she seems to no longer live at the address in Bayonne, New
Jersey that she provided on her Page of Testimony.

Please respond privately to leslie_dahan @ hotmail dot com.

It is my understanding that there was only one concentration camp
liberated by the king of Sweden. Does anyone know which one that was?

Is it possible that the reference is to Count Bernadotte and
the Swedish Red Cross being invoved in the release of some women >from
Ravensbruck?

indeed a rare surname in Ashkenazic circles, and I am trying to find out if
Levis' families of Bulgarian origin and >from the other hand of Bukharan

So you have an example of Levis' who calls themselves in a different

So each branch chose a surname which gives hint about their origin

Maybe HALB"Z = high priests, SEGAL = second to the high priests and or in

They hold the records of Kindertransport children arriving in England. You
have to be persistent. I sent two emails and then finally rang up and
convinced them I was genuine. They then sent me information which allowed

There is no published list of the 10,000 Jewish
children who were brought to England in 1939.Just
discovered that 2 young sons(ages unknown)of Adolf
Koenigsbuch >from Hamburg were on the KT.Contact with
them was lost.
Any suggestions,any clue.It is diturbing/fascinating
to find out at the age of 55 that your family members
were both on Sugihara List and on the Kindertransport.
Please email me privately unless you think there is a
general interest in your findings.

Obtaining Death Certs for Non-Family Members #general

Grant Stoom <grantstoom@...>

I've had no problem getting copies of death certificates of family members.
But a situation has arisen where I may need a death certificate for a
person who is not a member of my family.

Can a reader of this list tell me whether death certs are also provided to
non-family members?

If so, what is the procedure for ordering one?

Thank you.

Dear Group,

I have found my FREEDMAN family after a very long search & they are >from the
shtetl CHIECHANOW in WARSAW province POLAND.

Perhaps you will be able to explain the family relationships in the Shtetl
to me a little further as i am having great difficulty, working out all the
FRIEDMAN relationships. As there are over 200 FRIEDMAN's listed.

Whilst my g grandfather MORRIS /MOSCHE FREEDMAN is listed in the shtetl
together with his father & mother JACOB HERZ FRIEDMAN. I cannot see his
siblings listed.

Many FRIEDMAN's >from this shtetl settled & lived in GLASGOW SCOTLAND before
making there final jouney over to the United States as i have found a large
propoortion of this shtetl on the Glasgow 1901 Census UK.

I hope you maybe to help me in my family dilema.

We've been trying to reconstruct a family history for KATZENELLENSON
from Bobruisk. Abraham Katzenellenson, born about 1882, arrived in New York
about 1911. His wife Freda/ Freidel BOLOTNIKOV and 3 daughters, Masha,
Itta, and Haya came 2 years later, about 1913. Abraham's father was Zushe
and his mother Esther. He started off as a cabinet maker and then became a
carriage builder. The family name was changed to NELSON, either here or in
England. His siblings Yudel and Chyennah may have also emigrated to the
United States. His sister Sara married Harry SHAPIRO and apparently came to
New York. The youngest brother, Chaim, born about 1898, was left behind in
Bobruisk. Can you help?
