searching for death certificate of Sam PACK #general

philafrum

Genners,

I'd like to send a Freedom of Information Act request in order to get
naturalization information for a Sam(uel) PACK, but I need to provide proof
of his death.

He was born around 1873 and died either in New York City, probably in the
borough of Queens, or in Miami or Miami Beach, Florida around 1946.

Would someone be able to search in an appropriate index and provide me with
a death certificate number.

Many thanks.

Dear Genners,
May I thank all those people who responded to my
request for information on how I should obtain the
record of my grandfather's US citizenship. Especial
thanks to Barbara for all the info she supplied. As
we English sometimes say, I have more information than
you can poke a stick at!
Sincerely,
John Phillips

Some of you will be pleased to hear that I now have a (scanned) summary of
Dr. Neil Risch's lecture entitled "Genomic Perspective on Jewish History."

Rather than post to the group as a whole, I'm willing to forward it to
anyone who have a strong (serious) interest in the subject, including the

Nevertheless, no one in the family ever used those names. Zlata was what

Joy Weaver, East Islip, NY news@hunter.news.rcn.net asked:

I was named Joyce Isabelle. The Joyce was for my mgm, Sheina/ Jean, and
the Isabelle for my pgf, Isadore/ Yitzak. I was never given a Jewish
equivalent for the middle name. A rabbi once told me I could use Elisheva,
but that doesn't seem to sit right. Any thoughts?
Your parents chose to give you non-Jewish names of their own choice, simply
matching initial letters. Sheina is not essentially a "Jewish" name but the
Yiddish form of a German name, and has nothing to do with Jean though Jean is the
feminine of John and John is the English rendering of Yochanan and sometimes
Yehonatan. Yochanan has the fem. name Yochanah, often abbreviated to Channah
or Hanna or Anna or Ann.

Isabelle is a cursed name for Jews, and in English too, as Jezebel--the
epitome of the evil woman--so I'd stay away >from that.. If you want a real Hebrew
name, look through the Bible and look for a character and a name you like--the
meaning of many names is given in the Bible. Or go to jpost.com (the
English-language Israeli newspaper) and find a female name you like--which may
or may not be Hebrew.

Re: Jewish name for Isabelle? #general

chaikin <chaikin@...>

Dear all.

I received few replies to my recent posting, and would like to add:

A. Jezebel / Izevel, who was of Phoenician origin, had fought against the
Judeans who believed in god, and tried to convince them to worship Baal and
Ashera (Canaanite gods).
Isabelle, the Spanish queen, was one of the causes for the troubles of the
Jewish people of Spain.
There was a gap of about 2300 years between these two nasty characters, and
nothing seems to have changed :-))

B. Elisheva, which is the Hebrew name for Elisabeth, was the mother of
Achab, and wife of King Solomon.
I don't see any connection between Elisabeth and Isabelle, rather than a
Freudian mistake, made by a rabbi, whose mistake became fact :-))

Best regards,
Udi Cain, Israel
