Finding Erna Koenigsbuch-Teichteil in a Haystack-A Success Story #general

Dear Genners,
I would like to report a success story which is a
result of a joint effort of dedicated Genners.
I became aware of a remote cousin of my late mother.
The relative was Amalie Teichteil-Koenigsbuch and I
found her on JOWBR. She died in Johannesburg in 1942.
I found in the National Archives of South Africa that
she had a daughter called Erna(born in Essen,Germany)
who got divorced in 1943 and >from another relative I
learned that she remarried in Capetown and had 2
daughters.
Well,I basically was looking for "Erna XXX who was
born in Essen,Germany and had 2 daughters in
Capetown".A search in Capetown didn't yield results
and I decided that may be she was not in Capetown.
2 Genners,Beryl Baleson >from Israel and Paul Cheifitz
from Capetown helped me.Beryl "combed" South Africa
through her contacts and Paul looked through the
archives. Last week Beryl informed me that an old man
of German origin knows a certain lady called Erna S.
in Johannesburg and gave me her phone number.There was
no answer >from that phone and considering her age(born
before WW1) it was not surprising. Paul did not give
up and finally got in touch with her when she returned
back >from a hospital.She gave him the name and phone
of her daughter with whom I spoke at length last
night.We found Erna!!!!
I salute you Genners for your relentless dedication!!!

More records puzzles (Russian signatures) #general

I have uploaded some ROSENBERG birth records >from the town of Serock to
my web site and apart >from needing translations (they're in Russian),
there seem to be one or two discrepancies. There are 7 records altogether,
2 of which have already been translated for me (those for Brucha and
Gedalia). The ones that I need help with translating are for Bjejla,
Josjek, Gjerszjon, Ljejbka and Jakov Lieb. I am trying to establish
relationships between these and Brucha and Gedalia.
As I said above, there are one or two problems:
1. It seems that there are at least two (there are two different
patronymics, but some give none), if not three, fathers named Iciek or
Icek, but the signatures are inconsistent.
2. There is one mother called Sura Ryfka DROSER and another called Ryfka
DROSEN. Could these be the same person? I have found some data on the
JRI-Poland database regarding a Sura Ryfka DRUSZN and her siblings
(surname variously spelt DROSSEN and DROZEN). Her date of birth is
reasonably consistent with either one or both the above named mothers.
3. There is another mother on some of the records, whose name I haven't
yet deciphered.
Having the documents translated would obviously help with interpreting the
information, but I would also be interested in any thoughts about the
above issues.

a "rag picker", and his death record says he has no
occupation at all.

Could someone please help translate the occupations
written in Polish under the name Naftali TUCHFELD (my
g-g-grandfather) on 2 records >from Rzeszow, one the
1887 birth of his daughter Breindel, the other

I have a friend in England who is just beginning researching his family and
has come to me for advice - unfortunately I cannot offer much as my
territory is Romania - he is looking to find vital records >from Memel /
Slutzk (Minsk) and Kiev - 1800-1890. - how should he proceed?

I see that Slutzk comes under Belarus so therefore have advised he looks at
the Jewishgen Belarus database - however I am sure that there are fellow
genners who would be able to give me a quick answer to his request.
