More AGAD Galician Indices Now Online #general

Mark Halpern <willie46@...>

Over the past few months, over 100,000 AGAD vital record indices have been
added to the Jewish Records Indexing - Poland database at
http://www.jewishgen.org/jri-pl/jriplweb.htm. Thanks to the efforts of the
AGAD indexing team in Warsaw and Michael Tobias, there are now over
400,000 vital record indices for 59 eastern Galician towns in the JRI-
Poland database.

To find information about the status of indexing for the 87 Administrative
towns that are part of the AGAD project, please go to
http://www.jewishgen.org/JRI-PL/agad/agadtowns.html.

If your ancestral town was near one of the towns noted below, your town's
records could have been registered in one of these Administrative towns.
The Jewish communities in these Administrative towns collect the vital
records for all the towns in its district. The indices in the database
include reference to the town in which the vital event occurred. Search
the database for your surname and set "Province" to "Ukraine." This will
result in only AGAD record indices being displayed in your search results.

The indices do not have all the genealogical relevant information. You can
order the actual record >from the AGAD Archives using the Order Form that
is only a few clicks away >from your search results.

The following vital record indices have been added:

Borszczow (4848, 2603)

STERN/BRAUNSTEIN/WEINTRAUB- Galatz- Romania / New York #romania

Nigel Wilson <wilsonettes@...>

Dear Genners,

Antonette STERN married an Aaron WEINTRAUB in Galatz Romania. In 1913 Aaron
and 2 of his children went to the US going to brother-in-law Meir BRAUNSTEIN
- 40 Delancy St, New York. Antonette took her other 4 children and went to
London and France before being re-united with her husband in 1921 due to
WW I.

In 1913 a postcard is written by an Etta/Yetta/Netta - v. unclear -
Braunstein to her mother and sister in Romania telling them that 'the
children' - of which there is a picture on the back of the card - are safe
and well. Thus I must deduce that Etta.. and Antonette were sisters.

I have found on the ellis island site a Hirsch STERN age 33 travelling with
a Meir BRAUNSTEIN age 43, both >from Galatz (they are listed one above the
other) - going to NewYork - no address. Presumably Etta..
joined her husband sometime after as she is pictured on the postcard too.

The purpose of the above is to find descendants of the STERN/BRAUNSTEIN
families in order that I might find siblings/cousins of Aaron WEINTRAUB (I
have found all his children/grandchildren and grt-grandchildren) - they have
no knowledge of any other siblings except my great-grandmother Esther
WEINTRAUB who married a Moshe NADLER and went with 5 children to live in
London in 1902.

Family lore is such that there were other WEINTRAUB siblings, but where??

If any of the above names appear in your family please do contact me.

I thank you for taking the time to read the above.

Shabbat Shalom

Details of the marriage in Lille #france

Saul Marks <saulmarks@...>

Dear All,

Thanks very much to those who have responded to my query about Danielle
BAUME (nee GORNECKI). The responses I have received asked two questions:

1. When did the marriage take place?

I believe it was around 1984. Danielle will still be alive, I hope, as she
is probably in her 40s or 50s. The marriage was much less than 100 years
ago.

2. What about the 6 other GORNECKI families found by online search engines?

I investigated these families a few months ago. The lady in Villepreux is
not related to my GORNECKI family & the other 5 are all memebers of the
same non-Jewish family living in Lille. They could be related to
Danielle's illegitimate uncle, but I have no evidence about that at the
moment. None of them are obviously related to me though.

Thanks very much to all who respond,
