I have posted a portion of a Vital Records document on the ViewMate site:

or go directly to the page:

I would appreciate a translation of the handwriting in columns 4 through 6
of my Grandmother's birth certificate [1880].
With the help of Shea and Hoffman's book - Following the Paper Trail, I was
able to translate most of the certificate , but the handwritten paragraph
above my Grandmother's name was impossible for me to translate.

Please respond to me directly.

Many German Jews, particularly >from Baden, were deported to and perished in
Gurs, France. A list of all Jews who perished there as well as special

Jewish Cemetery in Kosice #hungary

Rakoff125

Has anybody visited the Jewish cemetery in Kosice in recent years? I'm
interested in learning how to get there >from the center of town, whether one needs
access through a gatekeeper, and whether the plots and rows are clearly
marked. In other words, do I need a guide or can I manage on my own?

I have copied the detailed cemetery list and identified the location of a
number of relatives graves that I wish to visit this August, any advise would be
most appreciated.
Thank you.

NEV VALTOZTATASOK - NAME CHANGES - PECS UNIVERSITY #hungary

VivianeCK2003@...

This resource is great - they have an entire section devoted to name changes
here I have logged into "S"
http://kt.lib.pte.hu/konyvtar/kt04112203/0_0_2_pg_203.html
It is user friendly - press "elozo oldal" to go back
press "kovetkezo oldal" to go forward
It is really helpful with genealogy research as *so many* Hungarian Jews
changed
their names.

I have received copies of the birth record >from Tarnow of each of my
grandfathers and need transcription help on the Polish script and your
comprehension of the exact names and towns. It is not necessary to
translate the typeform columnar captions.

They are posted in the VM (http://data.jewishgen.org/viewmate
as numbers:

# 6198 Josef Dawid NEUBARTH

# 6199 Wolf GRIES

The names of the various towns are Frystak (or variant) for Neubarth, and
Lisia Gora (or variant)for Gries.

Here are the links for them:
