Well, the trouble is that the names don't quite match,
nor does the date. I'm betting that it's the right
record anyway, and I'll send for a copy, but just to
share (and reinforce how flexible we need to be with
names), here's the *real* info, and what appears in
the database:

...

Marriage date is shown on the ketubah as Monday, Aug. 17, 1908.
Marriage date in the NY database is Aug. 16.

==That's an easy one. Sunday ended at midnight; then it was Monday.

==Yom Rishon [the first day] ended at sunset of Sunday.
Yom Sheni [the second day] started at sunset. And that's when they got married

==It's worth having a basic understanding of the Jewish calendar. I have
downloaded one that can tell me sunset on any day in any location in the world.

My father, Herman S. Alpert was a psychiatrist in the US Army during
WWII. I have recently found several pictures that he took overseas.
Some of the people in the photos were: Capt. Jerome LEHNER, Maj. Saul
STEINBERG, Capt. HOFFMAN, Capt. ALPERIN, Capt. John YOUNG.
If anyone is interested in seeing those photos, please let me know.
I have no information about these people other than what is written
on the backs of the photos.

More Moravian Families in FTJP #austria-czech

rodihan@...

I checked the Family Tree of the Jewish People early this morning,
and was pleased to discover that my tree -- containing about 6,500 names --
has now been posted. This collection deals primarily with the KNOPFELMACHER,
TAUBER, ZWILLINGER, and ZERKOWITZ families of Moravia (with numerous branches
into Slovakia, Hungary, and Austria), but many other family groups are
also included. Among the more well-known names are: Frankist disciple
Salomon KOHN-ZERKOWITZ (b. c.1750), Viennese writer Sidonie GRUNWALD-ZERKOWITZ
(1852-1907), violinist Sigismund BACHRICH (1841-1913), American inventor
Oscar ZERK (1878-1968), writer Herman UNGAR (1893-1929) [whose brother
married a KNOPFELMACHER], and Australian professor Dr. Frank KNOPFELMACHER
(1923-1995), to name a few. There are also hundreds and hundreds of
Shoah victims in all of these families.

I plan on continuing to add names, and will post an update every quarter.
One of my sources is the KNOPFLMACHER Stammbaum (written about 1905
by a relative in Vienna) which outlines the genealogies of a large
number of families connected to the KNOPFLMACHER family. I have
entered data >from the first 40 pages of the Stammbaum, but still have
about 20 more pages to go. Because it is written in the old German kurrent,
that's been a slow process for me.

If anyone has any questions about any of these families, feel free
to e-mail me.

Best regards,

Kojdanor, Poland #general

Dr.Josef ASH

Shalom,
I search the BASICHIS family >from Koidanovo (now Dzrezhinsk, near Minsk) in
Belarus.
In the Ellis Island database I found four young girls BASICHES, who arrived
by "Aquitania" >from Cherbourg on Sept 9, 1921.
It would be wonderful, but the town of the last residence is clearly typed
as Kojdanor. I understand, that the hand-written "v" and "r" may be
interchanged, but the country is typed as Poland. Minsk was always included
in the USSR and is not in the Western Belarus, which was the part of Poland
until the WWII.
I couldn't find Kojdanor in Poland, the name doesn't soud like a Polish
word. May be the researchers of Poland know such a shtetl?
I would like to adopt these girls into the family, but how can I manage
their "last residence"?
Thank you,
Dr.Josef Ash,
Israel

No wonder it takes a lot of detective work to figure

KOENIGSBUCH from Dukla,Galicia and Trebisov,Slovakia #general

Abuwasta Abuwasta

Dear Genners and Siggers,
I still face few unsolved questions concerning my
maternal family KOENIGSBUCH >from Brzesko,Galicia. All
the bearers of this unique and rare surname hail from
that shtetl. However,by the 1880 they started moving
to neighbouring shtels in Galicia and westward to
Krakow and Germany.Recently I have discovered in Yad
Vashem PoTs a certain Wolf KOENIGBUCH(sic) who was
born in Dukla in 1890. He was on the Slovak
Deportation list of 5.5.1942 >from Trebisov to Lublin
together with Rudolph KOENIGSBUCH b. 1930 and Maria
KOENIGBUCH(sic) b. 1931. These 2 kids were probably
his children.Their place of birth is given as
Trebisov.
I have discovered already another KOENIGSBUCH
(Hermann) b.1912 in Michalovce. His father Joseph was
my grandfather's brother.
I wonder any one has bumped into those names or has
them on his family tree.
Thanks.
