Hello,

My name is Tamar WEINBLUM.
My husband's family is >from Rawa Mazowicka. I am trying to find his
roots and his family.

I tried all ready once but now I have more details.

I have been looking in The LodzGeto list and the cemetery but I could
not make a connection.

His grandfather was Henoch Daniel born 10/11/1882 in Sochatschew, Gvt
de Varsovie, Poland.
Henoch mother was Dina WAJNBLUM (EYNIS) Sochatschew, Gvt de Varsovie,
Poland. Born circa 1858 and died circa 1882.
The father was Leib WAJNBLUM born Rawa Mazowiecka, Piotrokow, Poland.

The grandparents were cousins.

His grandmother was Frajdla WAJNBLUM born WAJNBLUM born December 16 1882 in
Rava, Gvt de Piotkow, Poland
Her parents were: Abram WAJNBLUM born 1833 Lodz, Lodz Voivodeship,
Poland, died 1889 Lodz, Lodz Voivodeship, Poland
and Brandla WAJNBLUM born HERSCHKORN 1847 Skierniewice, Varsovie,
Poland, died 1924 Kharkiv, Kharkivs'ka oblast, Ukraine.

I know Frajdla WAJNBLUM had a brother Gedaljie born 1877.

I try to find other members of the family like brothers and sisters
but I don't know how and where.
Can you help me please.

Thank you very much

Richard... I believe the data could tell a different story. A strong
possibility that were two Mircies...maybe first cousins named for
the same matriarch. Look at the data:

Sare born 1871 (died 1885)
Chanzie died 1871, 3 months old
That would explain the two fathers, STEINKOHL and SALTZMAN.

At first glance, one would assume there were two different women
with the same name. However, I have found that my
great-grandmother was listed as having children with my
great-grandfather years after my great-grandfather had died and
my great-grandmother had married another man. It was not a case
where my great-grandfather's death and his widow's subsequent
marriage were not recorded. All of these events were recorded. It
was merely sloppy record-keeping. Although my case is not >from
Galicia, it is >from the Austro-Hungarian Empire as well.

You could say that it is a different lady with the two men or the
translator was having a bad day. In any case, it is quite strange
and meaningful to me since Raphael was an ancestor of mine.

Hello to all.
My 1st cousin Mervis Kreitzman was born in Chicago in 1911. The family
changed its name to Kaye. In 1961 her mother, Nettie nee Balkin Kaye, died
in Oregon and the informant is listed as Judith Hurst, daughter.
Judith had a first marriage to a Cohen and a daughter named Lynn Cohen.
No idea what happened to her.
I have no dates and wonder how to research a person with a name change. I
have tried Ancestry, Jewishgen, Soc. Security with all names and have hit a
brickwall.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate.

Viewmate Translation Request-Russian #general

I have posted a 19th century Lithuanian/Russian birth certificate
obtained through the great work of the Litvak Sig. It's in Russian.
It should be the birth certificate of Khaya Ester Vilkoreysky. I would
appreciate a direct translation of the information pertaining to her.
I am particularly interested in any references to other relatives,
information about patronymics which might reveal names of other family
members, or references to the town.

There was some ambiguity about whether this is the proper image so
please tell me if it is not.

Did Anyone Know Wilhelm Kranz? #general

Faye Hirsty

Dear Jewish Gen SIGs,

I am trying to do some research about my grandfather, Wilhelm, Vilmos,
Willliam or Wolf Kranz. He owned a wurst fabric in Austria, so I
assumed he was Austrian, but I found papers when my dad sent for his
parents, stating grandfather was born in Poland. He was born in 1876
and later married my grandmother, Hani Rottman, also born in 1876, and
they lived on #41 Radvanc Street, Ungvar, Hungary which later became
Uzhgorod, Czeckoslovakia. She spoke Hungarian, he spoke German and
they both spoke Yiddish.

Wilhelm and Hani arrived in New York and he lived with us in Brooklyn,
NY in 1939. In 1950 he died during surgery. I met four of Hani's
brothers-Emil Rottman, Morris Rottman and one more Rottman, (his name
might have been Herschel Rottman) were all jewelers and Mozart Rottman
who was a portrait artist, but I know so little about my grandpa
Wilhelm Kranz. Miksa Rottman(Myer) Hani's 5th brother taught violin
and piano and died in the holocaust.

Wilhelm and Hani had 7 children; 2 died during a childhood epidemic
and two died in the holocaust (Ida Kranz, an artist and Hermine Kranz,
a seamstress nicknamed Haichu--my aunts). The sons, Bernard, my dad,
went to Havana, Cuba and learned watchmaking, then came to the U.S. in
1930. Leo and Harry Kranz came to the U.S around 1938.

If you have any information about Wolf Vilmos Kranz, or suggestions
about how I can get some info, please write me. He arrived in NY in
1939 and died January 24, 1950. He was very religious. I cannot get
his SS# although grandmother Hani had one. I am trying to find out
where he was born. So far, I have received a wrong death certificat for
a different William Kranz. My parents, Bernard Kranz and Esther Richman
met in Havana, Cuba early 1930.

Thank you very much,

US arrival record (1902) - last residence Radautz, Austria
World War I draft registration card (1917) - born Raudautz, Austria
Petition for Naturalization (1922)=A0- born Melan, Romania
World War II draft registration card (1942) - born Mialen, Roumania

I know that Radautz is now Radauti but am wondering about Melan /

Thanks for your help.
