Thanks to some kind folks who translated a birth and a death record I posted at
ViewMate, I now have the place where my great-grandparents were living in 1901-2.
However, I am having trouble finding it on a map or at JewishGen Town Finder. It is
given as "Potok Stani, gmini (community) Potok, Yanov uyezd" in Russia/Poland. The
death is in a hospital in Lublin and most family records indicate locations in Lublin
Gubernya, so this location should be somewhere in or near there. Is "Yanov" Janow?
Where else might Potok Stani be?

I have a WW 1 draft registration card >from my maternal grandfather, Julius
Eisenberg. It lists both his place of residence and place of employment at
the time. I am wondering if anyone in NYC can give me more information on
what the location is like now (and was like back then). Also, photos of how
these addresses look now and (I don't know if this is possible) but
photographs of those locations >from back then.

Residence - 270 E. 4th Street NYC
Place of employment - Gotham Novelty Co., 37 W. 76th Street, NYC

You can email me offline for this at: stuartungar@.... I can also email a copy
of the registration card if that is helpful (as the text is not very clear for me
to read).

Thank you,

BURKE family from Dayton and Chicago #general

Linda Berkowitz <lindaberkowitz@...>

I am looking for information on the BURKE family >from Dayton. Sam BERKOWITZ
immigrated >from Stchuchin, Belarus in 1904 and stayed with his sister Sara
BERKOWITZ in New York. He then moved to Dayton, marrying Minnie SKILKEN in 1909.
They had six children all born in Dayton: Herman, Rosetta/Rosella, Elizabeth/Betty,
Benny, Solomon/Jack, and Miriam. By 1930 the family moved to Chicago and was
living on Sacramento. I believe that the family then moved to Wisconsin in the
1930s. Eventually Jack moved back to Dayton where he died in 2000. He was
married at that time. I do not have information on any of the other siblings.

Siblings of Sam BERKOWITZ/BURKE are: Yossel/Joseph BERKOWITZ, who lived in
Chicago with his family; Sara BERKOWITZ, who married Julius/ Yehuda ROTHSTEIN;
Lena BERKOWITZ who married David GOLDBERG and lived in Rio, WI; Harry
BERKOWITZ/BERKOFF who married Rose and lived in Milwaukee, WI; and Sophie
BERKOWITZ, who married Efriam FROIKIN and lived in Dayton.

Any information on BERKOWITZ/BURKE family would be greatly appreciated.

WIGODZKI from Moscow & Baku #general

Rony Golan Genealogy <rony@...>

Dear friends,,

I am looking for Daniel WIGODZKI (differet spellings: WYGODZKY, WIGODZKY, WIGODSKY)
who was born in 1922 in Moscow, Russia. He was the son of Baruch WIGODZKI. The
father passed away during the 1950's in Russia, and Daniel's mother passed away in
Baku, Azerbaijan in 1953.

I am interested in finding Daniel or his children (if there are any).

Do you know:
How can I trace and order a death certificate in Baku ?
How can I trace the grave of his mother in Baku ?

If you have any information about this specific family, I will be glad to hear
from you !
Many thanks,
