Boston ship manifests #general

I know that manifests for ships coming into Boston harbor are only
available on-line up until 1943. Does anyone know where manifests of
ships coming into Boston after that date might be located? A friend was
born in a DP camp and arrived in the United States with her parents in
March, 1949, sailing into Boston. I am trying to find the manifest of
the ship they came in on - this friend does not know the name of the
ship or the date it arrived. She thinks it may have left >from Rotterdam.

Gymnasium Yizkor Book. To date, with the volunteer efforts of
Shalom Bronstein in Israel, we will soon have ready for
publication on JewishGen, the Table of Contents and several
sections of text. This book is an important record of the lives
of family members who were students and teachers at the Gymnasium.

We are looking for additional volunteers to translate >from
Hebrew to English. Please contact me if you are interested. Your

I am searching for any information or potential relatives of my
grandparents: Milan SACHS and Charlotte nee POLLACK Sachs who lived
in Zagreb in the early 1900s. This is the information I have to date:

Milan Sachs (1862-1931) >from Zagreb had 6 brothers and one sister.
One brother, Pepe, inherited his father's (Max Edward Sachs) furniture
making factory which was originally established in 1848. This factory
supplied Emperor Franz Joseph with hand carved and inlaid furniture. A
second brother was a judge and the third was a lawyer. His sister was
married to a Professor at Zagreb University named Segen. There were
approximately 150 relatives living in and around Zagreb during this
time. The other brothers moved to Budapest, Vienna and Prague before WW1.

There was also a cousin, Baron Niels Sachs de Gric) who survived and lived
in Rome.

Charlotte (1872 - @1942) had one sister and 2 brothers. Her sister lived in
Trieste. One brother worked for an insurance company and the other brother
worked for a bank in Alexandria, Egypt.

I would love to hear >from anyone that might be related and can help me fill
in the holes of my grandparents' family.

Polish town Przemysl, name of LOB #general

I plan to visit Poland with a Synagogue tour in May 2012, and to take a
detour to Przemysl, the town >from where my great grandfather Aaron LOB came
in late nineteenth century. I wonder if any members have been there and/or

The England and Wales Census, 1851 found at www.familysearch.org
lists a Sarah Magnusson, age 51, born in Pagham, Norfolk.

At www.familysearch.org you can do a first name only search for
births ocurring in Pagham for the approximate years of Sarah's birth.

In the 1930s, Helen PIASETSKY (or Piasecki) visited the United States
from China. She was born in Makow, Poland in 1914 and came to China in
the 1920s, with her parents Moses Piasetsky & Esther Chrzan. In the
1930s the family was living in Shanghai. She stayed in New York or
Brooklyn a while, but returned to China. The family left Shanghai after
World War II.
I have been unable to find any passenger arrival for her in the US at
that time. She probably traveled trans-Pacific.
