Cause of death and cemetery. #general

Lorlis@...

I've posted a vital record for which I need an interpretation. It is on
ViewMate at the following address ...

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=22277

I cannot interpret the primary cause of death for the 3 week old infant
Samuel Hyams. The secondary cause seems to be convulsions.

In addition, I can find no reference to "Ginty's Run Cemetery" in
Pittsburgh. Does it still exist, possibly under another name? Hope
someone can help with this info.

Please respond via the form provided in the ViewMate application.
Thank you very much.

Graves at Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, Long Island, NY #general

David Scriven

Dear Genners,

I'm trying to get information about graves in the Beth David Cemetery in
Elmont, Long Island, NY, which are not listed in the JOWBR

1) Blanche Haber (nee Pomeranz) b ~1890 d 1969. This grave is listed on a
map of the cemetery as follows:
Society: Newmark Y.M.B.A. *** Society in Liquidation ***
Section E, Blk 5, Location: Sinai & Harrison

Is it possible to get details of the gravestone, including accurate
dates of birth and death? Is her husband buried next to her?

Other graves which I believe are in this cemetery are those of:

2) Max Pomeranz b 1879 d 1938
3) Annie Pomeranz (nee Reiner) b 1886 d 1970
4) Samuel Pomeranz b 1911 d 2003

All dates are approximate. Is there any way I could confirm that those
graves are, in fact, in the cemetery? Is there a person at the cemetery
whom I could contact for information?

Name Changes database: NEW on IGS website #general

Lea Haber Gedalia <msleag@...>

Dear Friends,

Name Changes database NEW on IGS website
The names of some 300,000 Israelis who legally changed their name after
Israel became a country can be searched at the Israel Genealogical Society
(IGS) website at http://www.isragen.org.il/siteFiles/1/618/7927.asp.
The results are the name of the person before and after the change and the
date (sometimes only month/year) when the name change was posted in the
Yalkut Hapirsumim (Official Publications) of the Israeli government.
You must search for names using the Hebrew alphabet.
If you do not know how to spell a name in Hebrew, use Stephen P. Morse's
English to Hebrew transliteration at
http://stevemorse.org/hebrew/eng2heb.html.
The project was made possible by a grant in 2010 by the International
Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies
We hope this serves all family researchers

Artie Dunn (The Three Suns); Gertrude Dunn #yiddish

Stephen Katz

I am trying to find information about Artie DUNN, a member of the musical group
The Three Suns which was popular in the 1940s-1950s, and his mother Gertrude DUNN,
who was an actress in Boston in the 1920s.

Re Artie DUNN: I am not seeking information about Artie's professional career,
which is abundant; rather, I am looking for genealogical information, such as
(i) his original name (his name doesn't come up on any of the usual genealogical
databases); (ii) d.o.b. (I've seen references to a d.o.b. in 1922, but he must
have been born much earlier, since he appeared with other performers such as
Sammy Fain in the early 1920s and Les Reis in 1932); I believe he was born in
Boston; (iii) other family members.

Re Gertrude DUNN: I have found no information whatsoever about her. If anyone has
any information at all, I'd love to receive it.

JewishGen Success Stories #ciechanow #poland

bounce-2397183-772951@...

We are pleased to announce the publication of the latest issue of
JewishGen's SUCCESS! STORIES webzine. You can access these stories
from the "About Us" button on our homepage or by following this link:
http://www.jewishgen.org/JewishGen/Testimonials/ .

In this issue, Sherry Levy-Reiner unravels the mystery of her
great-grandfather's death on a voyage to Palestine in the 1920s.
Marla Raucher Osborn travels to her ancestral town of Rohatyn in
Western Ukraine searching for traces of her family and finding an
unexpected purpose. Tony Hausner relates how, as a result of the
posting of his JewishGen Success Story last year, he connects with
two previously unknown cousins.

This issue was prepared by JewishGen volunteers -- Nancy Siegel,
Editor and Anna Blanchard, Webmaster. We are sure you will be
inspired by these stories and we encourage you to send your own
success stories to: success@lyris.jewishgen.org.
