Missing METZL family member/s #germany

Frankie Blei <frankieblei@...>

My late father, Paul BERMANN (changed to BURMAN in Australia early
1940s) had a maternal cousin Alesander METZL ( born Vienna 1919 &
died Cologne 1994) who somehow survived the Holocaust in Germany and
afterwards married Margareta nee GELLER or GAILER (born 1921
Dussldorf) in Cologne. They had a baby in the early 1950s and by
1953 were apparently separated and Alex used to have access to the
baby to walk him in a park in Vienna once a week on Sundays.

Would anyone know anything about Alexander and/or his (ex) wife and
especially the child who would now be in his late 50s and my second
cousin please contact me. Many thanks

Joseph VAN GESTEL London, Durban, Antwerp #general

Jan Bousse <janbousse@...>

Dear friends,

I am looking for the whereabouts and family of Joseph VAN GESTEL. He was a
diamond cutter, born around 1893, possibly in Antwerp, Belgium. He married
Berthe GREWEL, >from a Jewish family in Antwerp, in Holborn on 16 May 1920.
His son by Berthe GREWEL, Maurice Jean VAN GESTEL, was born 31 January 1921
in London St. Pancras. It is assumed therefore that he has been living in
London for some years. I don't know if the census for 1921 is accessible, if
so perhaps someone could look him up for me.

Presumably he moved to South-Africa, as on 23 July 1930 he arrived in
London >from Durban on the vessel City of Sparta, perhaps on a business trip.
The London address given was 25 Tilson Rd, Tottenham. Can anyone look
perhaps in the census or other sources if he remained there, if he moved back to
South-Africa or to Belgium. It seems he had the Belgian nationality, I have
however not been able to find any trace of him in Belgium.

Many thanks,

Jan Bousse, Oostende, Belgium

Hi,
I wondered if any of you kind people across the pond would have access
to any census/ electoral records or anything that would help me trace any
family of my gmothers sister, Sarah-Leah JESOFSKI or JESOVSKI nee NEVDOFSKI.

She emmigrated to Chicago, initially, and then moved to San Francisco, with
her husband and 2 children >from Lithuania.
I don't know her husbands christian name. This was probably 1900-1905.

Thank you in anticipation of any assistance.
Kind regards,
Harvey Silver, England.

DNA testing #general

Jonathan Down <jcdown@...>

Hallo
My son is engaged to marry a Jewish woman. He would like to know if he is Jewish.
My wife has been told that there is Portuguese/Spanish jewish
connection-but after much searching-I can't find any link.
Would DNA testing answer the question?
Cheers
