These two are the same. The National Library is on the Givat Ram campus
and serves students, faculty and the public.

Memories of Muizenberg Exhibition Opens in Sydney #general

Eli Rabinowitz

The Memories of Muizenberg Exhibition opened on Sunday night at B'nai B'rith in
Sydney.

View the videos of the speeches together with the photos at:

http://elirab.me

I also highly recommend an interview with Pese Kagan Nowitz of Melbourne who
lived in Muizenberg >from the age of one to twenty one.

Pese articulates beautifully about the rich Jewish life of the locals:

[Moderator Note: shortened URL - http://goo.gl/Om8x9I ]

Finally, the Muizenberg kehilalink is a great resource to see videos, photos and
stories of Muizenberg.

If you have a story or photos to share, please contact me.

Answering the request >from many people I posted the 1st page of the vital
record / marriage where a presumed birth town in Ukraine (presumed via
other elements) seemed to be " Coslilinograt ". It is on ViewMate at the
following address . . .
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM32239

My first request took place on past 10 Feb (subject 6) without scan. In
the meantime the problem has been solved : almost certain or certain it's
going about Konstantinograd as result of 1) bad pronounciation by the
declarant, 2) bad understanding by the employee (we're in Buenos-Aires,
employee speaking and understanding probably only spanish, 3) bad trans-
cribing by the employee of bad photocopying ("t" appearing as "l"), so for
example : Konstantinograd > Kostetinograd > Koslilinograd > Coslilinograd
(influence of the spanish).

In 1922 Konstantinograd is renamed as Krasnograd I easily found on a modern
map about 100 km ssw >from Kharkov.

Would it be still any objection ? Please let comments then via the form
provided in the ViewMate application.

I thank very much all who have helped to give an answer to my question
and all possible future additional comments.

Translation of tombstone from Schwarza, Germany (Thuringen) #general

Sharon Grundfest Broniatowski

I would appreciate any help in translating the tombstone on ViewMate VM
13686 written in Hebrew. It is most probably my great-great grandmother's
and I can make out "Eshet Hayil" as well as the fact that it says wife of
Lippman Epstein. I can't make out the first name (Nirele??) and the father's
name (Joav or Zev?). The death date was Adar 2 (Feb 11, 1910). Lippman
Epstein was the religious school teacher in Schwarza and his father, Moses
Michael Epstein was the rabbi there in the mid to late 1800s.

Thanks,

Please help with dating two mystery photos on Viewmate #general

Rachel S Goodman

I uploaded two mystery photos to ViewMate at the following addresses.

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM32233

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM32234

They are certainly members of my KLAUSNER and or GERSHOVSKY families.
I am not sure of the location, but likely they are >from the
Vilnius/Trakai/Eisiskes area in Lithuania, although I am wondering if
the woman and her daughter may have been photographed in the US.

I am interested to know your opinion about when these photos might
have been taken, based on clothing, hair-styles, and photographic
technology of that time.

Please respond via the form provided in the ViewMate application.
Thank you very much.

Holocaust Survivors #austria-czech

Judith Goldsmith

HelloI I am trying to find two Holocaust survivors in my GEIGER family line.
They are brothers: Benjamin GEIGER b. abt. 1907 and Shmuel GEIGER b. 1905.
Both were born in Sokolow Malopolski, Poland. They provided pages of
testimony in the Central Database of Shoah Victims' Names in Yad Vashem for
their parents Chana GEIGER b. 1878 and Eliezer VALTZ b. 1878; also for their
brother David GEIGER b. 1899 and their sister Sara GEIGER b. 1904. The
victims were murdered in the Extermination Camps of Belzec also in
Treblinka, in 1942. Would anyone have knowledge of the whereabouts or
descendants of the survivors of this family? Please answer privately.
