100 km ssw >from Kharkov.

I've posted a vital record in Hebrew:.
These two images were scanned >from a copy of the Bible, which belonged to
my grandfather, Arthur P Feinberg (Aaron). His father's name was Herman
William Feinberg (Yaruchium Gabriel) and his father's name was Charles
(Gabriel) Feinberg. I obtained it after Arthur's death in 1977.
The images come >from the first and last pages of the book. I do not read or
understand Hebrew, however, it appears that they are the same, except
for the end, which appears to be a signature.

I am looking for a complete translation and confirmation that the
two are identical, except for the signature.

There most certainly is a birth index for New York City after 1910.
The New York Public Library has a copy and I have done look ups for a
number of people in this index. It is on fiche by year and by borough.

The challenge is it is only a listing of the baby's name and the date
of birth along with the certificate number. There's no information on
the parents, address or anything else. So if you are searching a
common name it is a very difficult search. However after giving people
the details >from this index I have heard a number of people have been
successful in getting the certificates >from the Heath Department.

Ship manifests and death records for Sarah FREIDIN and Jacob FREIDIN.

Looking for death records for Sarah FREIDIN, born about 1863 in Russia.
Immigrated to London 1888-1889 with husband (Isaac LANDAU, or LANDAW), and
children, Solomon, Sarah and Isreal. Six more children were born in London:
Yetta, Hyman, Mordecai, Rose, Hary, and Philip. The family changed their
name to FREIDIN and immigrated to the USA . Sarah came with the children in
1901-1902. The family lived at 239 Monroe, NYC. She died in late May or
early June 1902 in the New York Metropolitan Hospital. At that time her name
was Sara FREIDIN; her husband had become Jacob FREIDIN; the children were:
Sydney, Sadie, Fred, Nettie, Bob, ?, Rose, Harry, and Phil.

Also looking for death records for Jacob FREIDIN (or FREDIN), born as Isua
(Isaac) LANDAU about 1865 in Homel, Russia (Gomel, Belarus). He, Sarah,
Solomon, Sarah (daughter), and Israel immigrated to London about 1888-1889.
He bought passports in the name of FREIDIN and he (now Jacob FREIDIN) and
son, Solomon (now Sydney FREIDIN) came to the USA, together or separately,
about 1900-1901. (Naturalization Papers for Sydney say he came through
Toronto and into New York City on 14-15 July, 1901.)

I see no mention of Jacob or his wife, Sarah after 1902. Would love to find
ship's manifests and death notices for them.

I have been searching for over 2 years for the travel documents of my
maternal grandfather Sam Yaffey (Shakhna Iofe or Ioffe, b. 1856), his wife
Rose (Rise Rochl/Rocha Risila Kaplitz b.1862), and daughters Anna Bertha
(Chana Busa, b.1884), Sora Gena (Sara Hannah, b. 1885), Lizzie (Chaya Leah,
b. 1888), and Etel (Ethel, b. 1891) >from Jonava, Lithuania. I have a copy of
my grandfather's Application for Naturalization filed with the District
Court of Grand Forks, ND on 06 November 1893. In the document, he claims to
have entered the US at New York in July 1892. I have checked the Steve Morse
website for New York and Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore and other ports,
but unsuccessfully. I have also checked Castle Gardens records as well as
NARA. My grandfather was educated as a teacher-rabbi at the Slobodka Yeshiva
(Vilijampol?) near Kaunas.

I assume the family came to America as a unit in 1892, but the US censuses
of 1900, 1910, and 1920 give differing dates: 1894, 1896 and 1897. Of these
dates, only the 1894 date seems feasible for my grandmother and four to six
daughters to have come to America to join her husband. The latter two dates
are unlikely as my grandmother was pregnant with her sixth daughter in Grand
Forks in 1897 and was living with the family in St. Paul, MN in 1898.

I appreciate any help any Genners can give me. Thank you in advance.

Hello all. I am looking for advice on gaining access to the Jacobi
Papers at the International Institute for Jewish Genealogy, specifically
the "monographs" on European rabbinical lineages. Does anyone have
experience gaining access to them? My understanding >from the website is
that the documents may not be taken >from the library or copied in any
fashion. Is there any way then to look at these documents without
actually going to the library? I do not live in Israel so that is not a
possibility for me.

I am specifically interested in "The Jaffe Family" monograph, and
perhaps "The Falk "C" (Kohenite [priestly]) Family".
