Re: Dorosic Forced Laborers #general

"Work" is a relative term. And what you say is incorrect, you don't
have to specify a surname.

When I search the All-Hungary database, with no names, for either the
town of Tiszafured, or just Tiszafured in any field, I get hundreds
of hits, including 3 >from the "Hungarian Jewish kmsz" database. But
searching for "Dorosic" returns nothing.

Alexander Sharon <a.sharon@...> wrote:

One have to know person's surname to allow the search.
MODERATOR NOTE: Many JewishGen database searches will not allow for broadly-based
results. Some do allow more flexibility in search terms and results. And, of
course, one may acquire "enhanced" searching capabilities for some databases with
an annual $100 contribution to JewishGen.

Recently discovered my great great grandmother's maiden name - GREENSPAN #general

I was searching for a death certificate for my great grandmother's brother
and when I finally found it, is showed that his mother's maiden name was
GREENSPAN.

I know my family came >from either in or around Borzna. My question is, what
other towns were near Borzna so I can begin to research my GREENSPAN family

Rebecca GREENSPAN married my great grandfather Louis ALEXANDROVITZ (Anglicized

did come to America.

Offering Lookups at NYC Municipal Archives #general

A. E. Jordan

I am going to have to visit the NYC Municipal Archives and I have already
offered to help out a few people with look ups.

If anyone else needs something please contact me and we can discuss if I can
help you. On these trips I am basically working as your eyes and legs for
people who can not get to the Archives themselves.

Generally what I do is transcribe certificates where you have already found
the numbers >from the online indexes or sometimes check for missing records
with the tools at the Archives. I ask everyone to cover the costs including
the printing of certificates (if you want them) which is $11 each.

I do not do generic searches when you only have vague details -- or if I do
those they are mostly on a compensated basis.

I am always happy to discuss any and all research questions involving NYC
area look ups though.

Happy Passover to all!
