hi Marilyn,

These records are not available online. We received them years ago
from the Polish National Archives in Tarnow; you may want to check
their website to see if they have put these records online since then.

Chaine CHILMANESDORF #general

Debbie Wetlaufer

A 1900 passenger list indicates that the woman was going to her brother-in-law
"Chaine Chilmanesdorf" who resided at 85 Ridge St., New York, New York.

I searched the 1905 NY Census for 85 Ridge Street and located it (AD 12 ED 6
Images 14-20), but did not find anything close to this name.

I don't get any matches when searching this name. What variations might I try?

I searched on *dorf in Manhattan to see what sound-alike names might
turn up..... The closest were things like Chillendorf Killendorff
Kimmedorf Lamesdorf Landendorf Lamensdorf Seckendorf Schoendorf
Sickendorf Stahlendorf Sussendorf Uhlandorf Vettendorf Weinsdorf
...... "Lamensdorf" seemed like a good bet.

Is there a way to find "85 Ridge Street, Manhattan NY" in the 1900 Census????

I appreciate any tips you can offer.

TIA!

In response to the question of trains in Russia, see the following 1900 map. The
black lines are railroads in operation while the red lines are tracks with

Get and search records cheaply #general

דוד נ.א.

Hello to all research fellows

I wanted to ask your help and your own experience. I'm looking for the
cheapest way to perform these three tasks, all together and each one
of them separately:

1. Get copies of specific documents and records >from archives in
Poland and Eastern Europe.

2. Get copies of specific records LDS microfilms (I live in Israel
with no family center).

3. Get a translation of the summary of the documents and vital records
in Russian and Polish.

I have to say that I know that can use volunteers many times, but I
mean this time so I could pay a service plan through regular use.

Thanks in advance

Viewmate Translation request - Hebrew Cursive #ukraine

Lainie Levick <llevick@...>

Hello,

My father and I have just recently started searching for our lost family
members. His parents, my grandparents, came over with their new born son (my
father's brother) >from Vinnytsia (we think), Ukraine/Russia in 1921 to
Philadelphia, PA. They lost track of the rest of their families when they
left. His parents names were Bercu (Beryl) Litvac and Golda (not sure of her
last name, maybe Uswinsky?), and the son was Chaim Felwich Litvac. We know
that Bercu had a brother David, and two sisters names unknown, who went to
Argentina. We don't know the names of any of Golda's family.

We have two photos of Golda's sisters (we think) which I have posted on
ViewMate, that have some writing on the back for which we need a
translation. I think they are in Hebrew cursive, although his parents spoke
Yiddish. We would like to know any names, dates, cities, or other
information that might help us in our search.

The locations are:
