The most important articles of GenAmi 77

1- Boruch (Benoit) Mandelbrot, >from passwords to fractals. Written by Gerard
Xavier.
This mathematician was born in 1924 at Warsaw, he arrived to Paris in 1933
with his family. Despite the war, he studdied mathematics and could enter in
the best superior schools of Paris. His uncle Szolem was already a great
mathematician who studdied at the College de France then went to USA and
returned to France to teach, then fighted in the Free French Forces. The nephew
was as good as his uncle. Among his works : "The fragtal discovery of nature"
complex and beautiful...

2 - A contest on the history of Gniewoszow (II and III) translated by Patrick
Atlas.

3 - The documents for Jewish genealogy in Nice

4 - Five brothers as cavalry trumpets in the Army of Napoleon. By Micheline
Gutmann.
It is an extraordinary story, a unique case in the history of Jewish families,
even of not Jewish families, even of all times. I was studding the Samson
family living in Versailles in 1808, whose father arrived >from Germany about
20 years ago,bI discovered that five brothers became soldiers in the Great Army
of Napoleon as trumpets in cavalry. bThey participated to quite all the battles.
We know two descendants. The research of Nicolas Coiffait, still working on the
Jewish soldiers of Napoleon, was a great help.

record.. I am fairly certain it is in German but I am having trouble
so it might be Polish.

JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen My Heritage DNA Matching Free to Upload Your DNA Results #general

Jan Meisels Allen

MyHeritage just announced that their DNA Matching program is now **live** and
for the time being it is free-whether one uses the basic, premium or Premium
Plus version. This includes the DNA upload and the DNA Matches.

Once your DNA is uploaded for DNA Matching MyHeritage says that will be free
forever, however, how long they will offer the public to upload to
MyHeritage being free is not known, and they are recommending uploading now
to take advantage of the program.

If you have taken a DNA test with DNA provides such as FamilyTree DNA,
23andMe or Ancestry these are the results that should be uploaded.

Under this program, MyHeritage compares DNA data of individuals, which has
been uploaded to the MyHeritage website, in order to find matches based on
shared DNA. Your DNA matches are people who are highly likely to be
relatives (close or distant) because there are significant similarities
between their DNA and yours. MyHeritage DNA Matching can open up new
research directions, and allow you to find and connect with relatives you
may not have known about previously.

To read more about this free offer and how to upload your DNA results to
MyHeritage see:

<http://blog.myheritage.com/2016/09/dna-matching-now-live/>

I have no affiliation with MyHeritage and am posting this solely for the
information of the reader.

Chairperson, IAJGS Public Records Access Monitoring Committee

MODERATOR NOTE: Further discussion about DNA in genealogy should take place on
JewishGen's DNA Testing discussion group. See
