Wer einmal war, Georg Gaugusch #austria-czech

Traude Triebel

We have waited five years, with bated breath, for this to happen. And
finally, it's ready: on 24 November 2016, Volume II of Georg Gaugusch's
monumental work, Those Who Once Were. Vienna's Upper Class Jewish Society
1800-1938 (Wer einmal war. Das juedische Grossburgertum Wiens 1800-1938)
will be presented.
We first put together the Index of Names comprising far more than 34,000
documented personal identifications which we provide to you here
exclusively. In addition, all town names have also been included and
properly assigned. In pop-up information fields (for family name, first
name, page and town) all the indicated data can be viewed at a glance or
scrolled through, thus providing not only the advantage of gaining a quicker
and more comprehensive overview of the whole mass of data, but also helping
to avoid empty searches which bring up no results

The town Ternitz, Austria. #austria-czech

Hello
I am looking for information about the town Ternitz, Austria.
Which documents can be found there >from 1850 to 1950?
What is a Jewish cemetery near there? Where the Ternitz's Jews were buried ?

Thank you
David Nesher

A great development on GenTeam.at. You can now search for parents in
birth records. This means you can finally find families where you match
the mother's maiden name. For example, searching in Index of
the Jewish Records of Vienna and Lower Austria for the last name ZEISL
and clicking the box for "Search of Last Name/First Name of
Father/Mother" I get births of kids with last name BAUER,
FELDBAUER, HUEBSCH and METZKER. All have mothers named ZEISL.

(US-RI) Re: RI James Arnold Collection Providence RI #general

Jan Meisels Allen

Rick Hyman replied to my posting of the James Arnold Collection at the
Providence RI Library. The newspaper article that was cited never said the
collection was digitized. I called the library and they advised at this time
there are no plans to digitize-they are completing another digitization
project but have not yet decided what project will be next-whether it be the
Arnold collection or another of their collections. To use their Arnold
collection one would have to physically visit the library.

KOHN, FRIEDLER and HASTERLIK #general

Robyn Dryen

I would like to make contact with anyone who is researching the inter-connected
families KOHN, FRIEDLER and HASTERLIK originally >from the towns of Kasejovice,
Nepomuk, and Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic.

At least part of these families moved to Prague, some perhaps to Vienna.
The HASTERLIK family may have adopted the surname ORENSTIEL in the early 1800s.

Thanks for any assistance
