Julius and Golde Hubscher #general

Shelley Mitchell

Dear friends -

I have another story to relate. On a receipt that was translated, Julius HUBSCHER,
of Kolomea, asks for the whereabouts of his daughter, Golde, in California. On
that same receipt, my great grandfather, Shimon MOLDAUER, also writes a note to his
daughter in NYC. I know nothing of this family but if there are any descendents
that know more about them and if we are in anyway related, I'd like to know.
Please contact me directly.

Thank you. Shelley Mitchell, NYC

ViewMate photo identification - Polish #general

Rose

Dear Genners

I've posted a photo of my father in the Polish army. I would be interested
to know where he was based and approximately which year the photo was taken.
My father was born in Kalisz, Poland in 1909 and he was probably around
18/19 years of age at the time. Also, does anyone know if the Polish army
records for that period still exist?
It is on ViewMate at the following address:

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM59008

I've also posted the inscription on the back of the photo which has the name
of the town. It is on ViewMate at the following address:

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM59009

Thank you very much

HECHT from Kolomea #general

Shelley Mitchell

Dear Genners -

I was reminded of a story recently and wonder if it resonates with anyone out
there. My grandparents came to America >from Kolomea in 1920 with my mother and
lived in New York City. Her maiden name was Pesia Beile (Bertha) TERNER false
MOLDAUER. When my grandmother's mother died, her father, Szymon (Shimon) MOLDAUER
remarried a woman named HECHT. I think her first name was Feige I believe she
might have had a son, Heinrich, who escaped to Shanghai with my uncles. My
grandmother never spoke to her father again. Except for two brothers long gone,
no one is known to have survived Shoah. Apparently, years later, a HECHT relative
wanted to visit my grandmother and she refused. If anyone knows of this story and
is a descendent of Feige HECHT, I'd love to be contacted privately. I'm convinced
that, like many marriages and remarriages, HECHT might also be a blood relative.

Thank you. Shelley Mitchell

Markstein and Hochwald Families #austria-czech

daal@...

Hi Fellow Researchers, namely: Yvonne Ward; David Lean; Eileen Crawford,
Maud Michal Beer, Eva Caroline Lawrence; Pauline Crump; Dominique Dubois;
John Schaffe and Deborah Guth

Thank you most sincerely for answering my questions regarding the above
families and their situations following their entries into the UK. This will
take some time to absorb and I shall certainly share any further information
with you.

I did have a document unlocked at The National Archives for Felix Michael
Hochwald which really paid dividends; the document had been closed for 100
years and I certainly should not have been around at that time!

You might find a book I am reading of interest - Flight >from the Reich by
Deborah Dwork and Robert Jan Van Pelt. Both authors have also written
separately.

Kind regards

Alison Painter

Re: Immigration #austria-czech

My great-aunt and her husband and their 2 very young children managed to get
to Great Britain after the Anschluss >from Vienna. They had barely any
money. They all were interned on the Isle of Mann. In fact, this cousin
eventually gave birth to her third child while she was interned.
