Ted Kotzin

Looking for Isaac KOCH, his wife Miriam (Mary) Grossman, and daughter
Sara, who was born in Lithuania (probably Kaunas) in 1874 and came to
America, specifically Cincinnati in about 1879 >from Liverpool/ ship's
list shows surname as KOSKI and name in US changed to Cook. These are
my father's mother and her parents.

Re: Need Death Certificate Look-up at New York Archives #general

Ira Leviton

Dear Cousins,

Joel Weiner asked for somebody who was going to the New York City
Municipal Archives, to do a lookup for the death certificate of
Regina/Rose Rosenbaum, who died about 15 June 1968 in Brooklyn.

The N.Y.C. Municipal Archives has death certificates only through 1948.
This death certificate is at the N.Y.C. Department of Health, which
under current rules will release it only to certain people. Details
are on their instruction page at
https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/services/death-certificates.page

Sorry for the bad news.

David Goldman

Turns out that another source indicates that my great-grandparents were
actually married in the city of Kharkov on August 12, 1886! I think this
source is more reliable. So I'll forget about Vilna and concentrate on
Kharkov.

Samuel OPPENHEIMER -- thank you #germany

David Dubin <davidmdubin@...>

Hi all,
Thank you to all those who helped put together an answer to my
question. Ralph Baer amazingly remembered a source >from work he did 30
years ago, demonstrating that Sandela was not the mother of most of
Samuel's children.
The date that appears for the first wife's death (11 March 1673) in
many trees is wrong -- that is the date of a lawsuit brought against
Sandela as Samuel's wife (See Die Familie Berolzheimer in the leo
Baeck Institute, chapter 9 page 85), so the first wife died BEFORE
that date.
The best we can say is that Samuel's wife died before that date, her
name is unknown, and Sandela is not a grandmother of most of us who
thought she was.
Mr Baer is indeed grandson of hers, but with her first husband Moses
Abraham ASTRUC.

Happy New Year. David Dubin, Teaneck, NJ davidmdubin@gmail.com

Re: Samuel OPPENHEIMER-HEIDELBERG (died Vienna 1703) #germany

Christine Crawford-Oppenheimer

Davidm Dubin davidmdubin@gmail.com asked about Samuel OPPENHEIMER

As far as I know, Berolzheimer had not footnotes, per se. He seems to
have copied a lot of his information >from public records.

My husband is a descendant of Samuel OPPENHEIMER's sister, Sarlan
OPPENHEIM (married Rabbi Isak BRILIN). This OPPENHEIM(er) (that family
used both forms of the name) line is in addition to Jim's Y-DNA
OPPENHEIMER line. I have the line of Sarlan (Oppenheimer) Brilin back
to Amschel Oppenheim, who lived in the early to middle 1500s, and my
husband's Oppenheimer line back to Jechiel Oppenheimer (died 1680 in
Worms). There is a certain amount of intermarriage between the lines,
and I have a theory that if I could find the ancestors of Jechiel, the
two lines would eventually have a common ancestor, but Jechiel seems
to be a dead end (some people claim some ancestors for Jechiel, but a
researcher in Worms tells me we have hit a dead end with him).

I would be happy to share the information I've collected on Sarlan and
Samuel OPPENHEIM(er)'s ancestors with you if you want it.

The URL appears to have a typo. Should be www.oroklet.hu.

The oroklet website was updated some months ago but it is still underway,
obviously.
There are lot of computer bugs and strange things about (like typing white
on white and so on) it but after trying various different ways, one can fin=
d
out how to use it, even it is not user-friendly at the moment. The previous=

version, in its last year of existence, also lets you see only the first pag=

Old Oroklet website still works at:
http://www.oroklet.hu/bent.php

(and I agree, dark gray font on black background is not the best combination)
